Neighbourhoods at a glance

CBD and Northbridge

The most practical base for a short stay, with trains, restaurants and the cultural centre nearby. Northbridge adds evening life and usually cheaper rooms.

Elizabeth Quay and the river

A newer riverside district with big hotels and easy walks to the centre. It is quiet at night but convenient for ferries and the bell tower.

Fremantle

A port city with markets, heritage streets and a slower rhythm. It suits a day or two of wandering, but the train ride to Perth adds time to every city day.

Cottesloe and Scarborough

Beach bases with sunset views and a more local feel. Cottesloe is calmer; Scarborough has more cafes and surf. Both need a train or car to reach the centre.
