A standard hotel is priced for short stays, but many serviced apartments, aparthotels and residences offer weekly and monthly rates that bring the per-night cost down sharply. If your trip is seven days or longer, an extended-stay property is often both cheaper and more comfortable than a hotel room.
Extended-stay operators would rather fill a unit for a month than juggle daily guests, so they discount the longer you stay. A unit quoted at A$220 a night can drop toward A$120 a night on a monthly rate. The kitchen is the second saving — eating in even a few times a week covers the difference on its own.
